I often get requests to discuss the latest diet trends and trendy detox drinks in nutrition (celery juice, 5 day apple cider vinegar diet, carnivore diet, pegan diet, worst versus best foods for weight loss, and the list could go on and on) - And if you are reading this, it is likely that you are someone who is ready to take control of your health, and also share some of these same questions!
And today I am here to tell you: Yes, being in the best of health and living longer comes at a price, however, instead of "dieting", I urge you to focus on adapting to a more balanced lifestyle altogether, that includes more of the nutrition your body truly needs, and that also includes things beyond proper nutrition, such as good sleeping habits, stress management, and a consistent exercise routine.
The body has an incredible ability to heal itself and get back in balance when you give it what it needs. Our body is very much like a supercomputer, and if you include more foods with the right nutrients into your meals, it will keep you feeling great.
For example, even when you have a weight loss goal in mind, if you focus on foods that promote balance rather than weight loss only, your properly nourished body will allow you to sleep better, and your energy levels will be amazing.
What You Focus On Is What Becomes Powerful
When it comes to proper nutrition, independent of your end goal, the focus should always be on balancing out your meals, including all food groups (specially carbs!), with a gentle approach to it, which is often an overlooked critical ingredient to any dietary success.
And the fundamentals of gentle nutrition / balanced nutrition is eating foods from all of the food groups and variety is eating a variety of foods within the food groups. Diet culture wants you to restrict to only certain food groups and only certain foods. That’s not actually balance and variety. True balance and variety are flexible, enjoyable, and unrestricted.
And when you change the foods you eat to include more foods to better meet your nutrient needs, you feel the difference, and it eventually becomes your preferred way of eating.
Lastly, let's not forget about the other health practices I mentioned above, that don't necessarily involve food: Proper sleep, a consistent exercise routine, stress management, and daily mindfulness practices!
I would be thrilled to be able to work with you and address your diet-related health issues. You will learn how to feed your body so it operates at its highest level everyday!
Let’s work together to create a nutrition plan to improve how you feel, today!
I hope this was helpful!
